Virtual Academy Director for Dorchester School District Two
Dr. Greg Harrison currently serves as the Virtual Academy Director for Dorchester School District Two, which is currently serving over eight thousand students virtually. Harrison also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Zucker School of Education at The Citadel. He earned his Ed.D. from NorthCentral University, MA in Educational Administration from The Citadel, MAT in Secondary Education from Charleston Southern University, and a BA in History from Coastal Carolina University.
Dr. Harrison prior to his current role served as Executive Director of Secondary Schools, high school principal, assistant principal, and classroom teacher. In 2014, Harrison was named Educator of the Year by the Darlington Chamber of Commerce. He was recognized as the PTSA Assistant Principal of the Year in 2009. He also was named Stratford High School Teacher of the Year and South Carolina Law Teacher of the Year in 2005.
Harrison’s true educational passion involves helping administrators and teachers in making the transition to the 21st Century classroom. He believes, as educators, we need to prepare students for a 21st Century world equipped with 21st Century skills: communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills where we have to challenge ourselves to rethink the traditional educational system to prepare students to be productive citizens.
