Shelissa Bowman

Shelissa Bowman has 24 years of experience in education, all in Dorchester District Four. She received her B.S. from the College of Charleston, and two M.Ed.s from Charleston Southern University, one in Elementary Education (1998) and one in Elementary Administration and Supervision (2009). She has served as a classroom teacher, TAP Master Teacher, curriculum specialist, assistant principal, and currently is the Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction. She supports three elementary schools on their journey towards continuous improvement. Her foremost goal is to increase student achievement using targeted coaching strategies to support exemplary leaders and instructional coaches. She also represents our district by serving on many local and state level associations, committees, councils and boards.

She and her husband have been married for twenty-six years. They have two sons, one in college and one in high school.  Family is very important to Shelissa, and she loves spending time with them. Shelissa is a person of strong faith which plays an important part in her life. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and cooking as her favorite hobbies.
