Assistant Superinendent
Julie Anne Kornahrens is in her 36th year in the education field and currently serves as Assistant Superintendent for Dorchester School District Two where she supervises both instructional and operational departments. Ms. Kornahrens began her educational profession as a classroom teacher in a self-contained learning disabilities class and then taught 4th and 5th grades before moving to Dorchester 2.
In Dorchester 2, she has experience in coordinating, planning, and implementing staff development training programs for the district’s classified employees. She has also worked in the areas of alternative education at the middle and high school levels and served as the principal of our Alternative School Program. In 2001, she was named the Director of Adult Education where she remained until being named Assistant Superintendent in 2016.
She also has experience planning, developing, and teaching graduate-level courses for the College of Charleston and the State Department of Education. Julie Anne Kornahrens has been honored with the following professional recognitions: Twice recognized as the SC Adult Education Director of the Year first in 2007 and again in 2016, Inducted into the SC Adult Education Hall of Fame (2007), the Wil Lou Gray Award for Outstanding Administrator in the field of Adult or Alternative Education (2005), and SC Adult Education Rookie Director of the Year (2002).
