Jessica F. Williams, a native of Colleton County has served as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction since July, 2018. Prior to this position, she served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Director of Elementary Education for the Colleton County School District. In her 34 years of service to the district, she has served as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. During her tenure as Principal of Hendersonville Elementary School, the school achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and was also recognized by the South Carolina State Department of Education as a RedCarpet School. Mrs. Williams worked tirelessly to build positive school-community relationships as well as provide a positive school environment conducive to improved student outcomes; academically and behaviorally. Mrs. Williams has co-written grants to enhance STEM experiences for elementary students in the district through the First Lego League Robotics Program. Additionally, under her leadership, the district was awarded grants to enhance summer literacy programs.

Mrs. Williams received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Winthrop University in 1985. She taught elementary music for 19 years at Forest Hills Elementary School. She later attended The Citadel, receiving a Master’s in Educational Leadership. She is currently working towards a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Walden University. During her career as a music teacher, she was named Teacher of the Year for her dedication to the profession and her passion for excellence.

Mrs. Williams serves on the Colleton County First Steps Board, The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, is a member of the National Education Association as well as the South Carolina Education Association. She is an active member of Xi Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated where she serves as Parliamentarian. She is a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she has been a member since childhood and serves as Minister of Music for the Aimwell Presbyterian Church.
